In Levittown, 320 graduated this June from MacArthur High School.

St. William the Abbot School had 42 graduates in June, 2022, according to the photo in the parish bulletin of June 19.

At Seaford High School, 174 students graduated. At Seaford Middle School, 158 students graduated from eighth grade.

At Wantagh High School, 192 students graduated. At Wantagh Middle School, 210 graduated from eighth grade.

The photo from St. Elizabeth Ann Seton School in Bellmore appears to show 18 graduates.

Graduation numbers

One hundred eighty-two seniors graduated from Seaford High School this June.  At Wantagh High School, 221 graduated.  I counted 557 graduates on the Massapequa list on Patch.

The website of St. William the Abbot parish school shows 30 in caps and gowns.

Patch reports HERE that the number of graduates of Seaford High School in June, 2018, was 178. The number of graduates of Wantagh High School was 247. The number graduating from Massapequa High School was 593.

Twenty-six graduated from Maria Regina School's eighth grade.

Seaford Little League parade

On April 14, 2018, the Seaford Little League teams opened the season with a parade on South Seaman's Neck Road to the Town of Hempstead park.

September 11, 2017

We had good weather this year for the ceremony, and that may have increased the large number in attendance. The NCPD honor guard arrived, flags hoisted, pipers puffing, about 7 p.m. With admirable organization, the ceremony ended at 7:50 p.m. Folding chairs were provided, the high school band played, and students helped much with the distribution and collection of candles. I had to discard my photos taken after sundown. Photos from better photographers will appear elsewhere.

Five alumni lost their lives during the attack on the World Trade Center.

Apparently 182 students graduated from Seaford High School in June, 2017.

September 11, 2015

Annually, the Seaford 9/11 Memorial Committee has organized and led a dignified, heartfelt commemoration on September 11th, remembering the five alumni of Seaford High School who lost their lives at the Twin Towers: Robert Sliwak, '77, Timothy Haskell,  '85, John Perry, '82, Michael Wittenstein, '85, and Thomas Haskell, '82.  Because the school district does not extend north of Jerusalem Avenue and because Massapequa, Wantagh, and Levittown residents also participate in the life of Seaford, more losses are remembered.  Also, some of those we lost may have attended a different high school.

Memorial Day, 2015

In 2015, May 25th was Memorial Day.  In the above photo, the American Legion post leads the parade up Washington Avenue near William Street.  Any photo may be enlarged by clicking on it.

This device clocked a skateboarder at 12 m.p.h.  The cameras are about 400 feet north of this sign.

Both northbound and southbound devices are attached to this pole.  At top are the lights.

The camera lens in this photo seems to be aimed at the rear of northbound cars.  Presumably, the boxes are merely controls and transmission devices.  Or is downloading done physically by an employee visiting each camera?  Near the lower box can be seen a flat pad, one in each direction. Might this register an approaching car and ready the camera, or is it the radar capturing the speed of the car that has just passed?  I could not determine the aim of these pads. 

Memorial Day, 2014

On the morning of May 26, 2014, the Seaford American Legion and other organizations honored those who died in combat with a parade to the marker at Seaford Middle School.

Harvest Fair, Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012

The Sixth Annual Harvest Fair will take place on Sunday, September 30, 2012, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Seaford Historical Museum located at 3890 Waverly Avenue in Seaford between Jackson Avenue and Southard Avenue.  This event will take place rain or shine.
The Seaford Historical Society Harvest Fair is fun for the entire community.  The "Pumpkin Patch" will have an assortment of pumpkins, mums, hay bales, and cornstalks for sale.  Beautiful autumn crafts also will be for sale.
Come, have lunch at the Food Tent!  Delicious clam chowder, hot dogs, popcorn, soda!  Also, the always popular Bake Sale Table will be filled with scrumptious homemade goodies to tempt you!
Be sure to take a chance on the terrific Grand Prize Raffle -- Apple iPad!
For the kids there will be face-painting, pumpkin decorating, games, prizes, and more.  And, new this year, an entertaining educational show about animals called "Erik's Reptile Edventures!" will take place at noon for both kids and adult enjoyment!
The Seaford Fire Department will display various fire-fighting equipment, along with the E.D.I.T.H. trailer, as part of their effort to teach children about fire safety and home evacuation.  
Thee will be a performance by the Seaford High School Jazz Band at 1:30 p.m. under the direction of Mr. Anthony Romeo.
And there will be a performance by the Seaford High School Barbershop Quartet.
This enjoyable event is an essential fundraiser in an ongoing effort to renovate and update the Seaford Historical Museum.  We need your support to achieve this goal!

In memory of those we lost on 9-11-2001

The sun set about the same time as the program was scheduled to begin.  Therefore, I took photos before the ceremony.  Maybe the holes in the flag provide safety lest the wind tug at the entire flag and bring down the supporting ladders and ropes.

Congressman Peter King later presented awards for service.

Also before the ceremony, we see Peter King (facing left), Fr. Robert Hayden (holding a program), and Pastor Ronald Klose (to the right).

The high school band played the National Anthem with extraordinary clarity and without improvisations.

Memorial Day, 2010

Above is the war memorial placed in a park at the Seaford railroad station. The Town of Hempstead maintains this park, which is shaded by lofty trees. A year or two ago, at a meeting of the Seaford Historical Society, I got the impression that no record could be found of a Seaford resident serving in the U.S. Civil War, the war that generated the custom of Decoration Day. The appellation Seaford did not yet exist here; the residents were farmers and fishermen needed for their produce; and the draft office for Queens County was in Jamaica.

"I'd just like to give a word of thanks to the Seaford Wellness Council, Seaford American Legion, Seaford Fire Department, Long Island Horticultural Society and Boy Scout Troop 239. For 2010, I know they maintained the WWI Memorial near the train station in Seaford. Congratulations on joint effort that was well done." Above, members of Seaford's American Legion Post march north on Washington Avenue, Memorial Day, 2010. Edwin Welch, born in 1895, lost his life on November 8, 1918, three days before the Armistice, after his regiment of engineers had repaired a bridge across the Meuse. They found shelter in a house in Remille, but they came under fire, and Edwin was killed. Surviving relatives live here on the South Shore of Nassau County.

September 11, 2009

The Seaford community gathered at 7 p.m. on September 11, 2009, to honor those who lost their lives on that date in 2001. Because of rain, the participants filled the high school auditorium. Please see the memorial site here for further description.
